Habits of Truly Successful People
I'm writing this post in a somewhat euphoric mood - the reason why is that I'm sat here now with a very clear vision of where I want to be in 3 years time and I have an overwhelming sense of certainty that I'm going to achieve my goals.
I don't often write about mindset and self development on my blog (to be frank, I haven't touched this blog at all in the last 3 months...) but this is something that I think everybody can benefit from....
You've Heard it All Before...
Yes, but so did I, and while I thought I got it - I really didn't.
The problem is this. Everybody harps on about "having the right mindset for success" - hell I've even been guilty of preaching about it to people. But what really happens is that people think that the right mindset is simply "not giving up"...
Before I tell you about my "revelation", let me just quickly say that over the past few weeks I have been struggling getting my work done.
I have a free 52 part video series that I've been spending a lot of time putting together that covers pretty much everything a newcomer should know about making money online - and the course is free ("pushing the free line" and all that)...
But I've been putting it off - I have only been doing one per week putting it off to the last minute. Now, the reason I can get away with only doing it once per week is because there is a 7 day interval between video lessons in my autoresponder account.
But that's not the point. I could have finished that video course last week - I could now be putting the finishing touches to my membership site, or arranging joint ventures to grow my list, or even creating a new low end product to help my subscribers over come a certain problem that they're having.
The point is - I have been slacking.
And you want to know the root cause of my slacking?
The Root Cause was Negativity...
I have been doubting my ability, doubting whether I have anything of value to offer people (despite receiving on average 5 unsolicited email testimonials per day), focusing on the negatives.
It's funny, once you start getting into that downward spiral, it becomes a habit. Once negativity is part of your habit then you're really fucked and you're in danger of falling into the 97% of people that fail to achieve their potential in life.
It was a 2 Hour Power Walk with my I-Pod that Fixed Me
Heck, yesterday I had had enough...I knew something wasn't right and I knew it was my mind that was crippling me.
My mind should be my most potent weapon but it was like a chain and ball hampering me from taking action and completing my to do list....
I wacked a message on my Facebook profile for a call for help. Unfortunately I did it 2am, nobody was around, and it went unnoticed...
My next port of call was Tony Robbins, Napolean Hill and Andy Harrington - three incredibly successful men who understand human psychology and damn site better than I can.
The underlying message to everything - you become what you think about.
This Morning I turned to Shakti Gawain
There is a fantastic book out there called "Creative Visualisation - Use The Power of Imagination to Create What you Want in Your Life". Incidentally, over 6 million copies of the book have been sold (incredible!)...
Well I tucked into this book in the early hours of the morning and it's really woke me up. I've since spent the best part of the day visualising my 3 year goals and am now focussed more than ever to achieve them...
And like I said above - I know with absolute certainty that I will achieve them. I can't tell you why, but I just know.
The Smallprint is This...
It takes the human body around a month to make something a habit (some may reach that point faster, while it may take longer for others). Before it gets to the point of being a habit there is a period of homeostasis where it is incredibly difficult to keep up the new daily rituals.
So, in about two weeks, I'm going to be finding it really hard to stay positive and visualise my goals...But that's OK - I'm pretty resilient and strong willed - some people have called me obsessive, but maybe that's useful in this industry.
For now, I'm content and today my to do list has been absolutely rinsed out to dry. I've helped more people, got more work done, added another couple of videos to my training series...
Negativity is a thing of the past. From now on there are no such things as problems, only challenges.
